Q: What is NeedleCalm? NeedleCalm™ is an Australian-made, TGA-listed adhesive pad designed to help reduce needle-related pain, fear, and anxiety. Applied above the injection site before a procedure, it works by targeting the skin’s sensory receptors to help make the experience calmer.

Q: How does it work? NeedleCalm™ is designed around Gate Control Theory — a well-established principle in pain science. By applying gentle sensory stimulation above the injection site, it helps reduce the perception of pain and ease anticipatory anxiety before and during the procedure.

Q: Is NeedleCalm TGA listed? Yes. NeedleCalm™ is a TGA-listed Class I Medical Device. ARTG ID 344731.

Q: Is it Australian made? Yes. NeedleCalm™ is proudly designed and manufactured in Melbourne, Australia.

Q: Is it drug-free? Yes. NeedleCalm™ contains no drugs, chemicals, or medications of any kind.

Q: How do I apply it?

  1. Clean and dry the skin at the intended injection site
  2. Peel the NeedleCalm™ pad from its backing
  3. Apply firmly to the skin above the injection site
  4. Leave in place for the recommended time before your procedure
  5. Remove the pad and proceed with the needle procedure as directed
  6. Dispose of the pad after use — single-use only

Q: How long before my procedure should I apply it? Immediately prior to needle use. Press the device onto the skin at the time at which the needle goes in then release and remove.

Q: Can I use it on my child? Yes — NeedleCalm™ is suitable for children with an arm circumference of more than 13cm. The Individual + Kids Activity Kit variation also includes resources to help children feel calm and prepared.

Q: Is it safe for sensitive skin? NeedleCalm™ is hypoallergenic and latex-free. If you have known skin sensitivities or a skin condition, consult your healthcare provider before use.

Q: Can I use it for blood tests as well as injections? NeedleCalm™ is designed to help with needle-related procedures generally. Speak with your healthcare provider about whether it is appropriate for your specific procedure.

Q: Can I reuse the pad? NeedleCalm™ is labelled as a single-use device so should be disposed of after each procedure.

Q: Do I need a prescription to order? No. NeedleCalm™ is available without a prescription and can be purchased directly online.

Q: Is NeedleCalm NDIS eligible? Yes. NeedleCalm™ may be eligible for funding under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Speak with your support coordinator or plan manager to find out whether it can be claimed under your plan.

Q: Is there a minimum order quantity for clinics? Our clinic supply option is a carton of 24 boxes — this is our minimum trade quantity. For larger orders or ongoing supply arrangements please contact us directly.
