  • Provide fast-acting needle pain management by effectively dulling sharp sensations
  • Relieve your stress and fear associated with needle procedures
  • Promote a calm and safe experience during needle procedures
  • Improve your experience with needle procedures.

How Does NeedleCalm™ Work?

NeedleCalm™ is a desensitising adhesive pad, which uses the body’s natural responses to block pain signals when it comes to needle pain & needle fear.

It combines a cool temperature & specific texture stimuli to create a barrier between your nerves and the needle. This approach helps both needle-averse patients & the healthcare staff who care for you.

The NeedleCalm™ medical device is a silicone adhesive pad (much like a large bandaid), that you place directly onto the skin close to your needle injection zone, moments directly before the needle procedure. (Scroll down for instructions on use).

NeedleCalm™ is Suitable for Anyone & Everyone – Children & Adults Alike.

NeedleCalm™ is ideal if you experience trypanophobia, or you have a fear or phobia of needles.

It is ideal for parents & carers who have children who are scared of immunisations & afraid of blood tests.

It can be used for ongoing treatments at home or in a clinic, such as chemotherapy, biologics, IVF or local anaesthetic and much more.

If you’ve simply had a bad experience with needles in the past, NeedleCalm™ can help you prepare for a less painful injection experience.

N.B. For effective use of NeedleCalm™, an arm circumference needs to be at least 13cm. Please consult with your GP or healthcare provider for suitability on a child with an arm circumference less than this.

How to Use a NeedleCalm™ Adhesive Pad:

  1. When you receive your box of NeedleCalm pads, store in the fridge ready for first use. The adhesive pads need to be refrigerated at least 4 hours prior to use, at a temperature between 2°C to 8°C.
  2. It is recommended that you use the NeedleCalm™ pad within two minutes once removed from fridge. So make sure you / the patient is ready to commence the procedure. *If travelling to your appointment, it is advised to keep the NeedleCalm™ pad sandwiched between two ice-packs and in a cooler bag.
  3. Remove protective backing from either side of the NeedleCalm™ pad, ensuring it’s sticking snuggly onto the skin with the spikes. Apply the NeedleCalm™ device only moments before needle insertion and press the NeedleCalm™ device firmly during needle insertion.
  4. Do not move or remove NeedleCalm™ until the needle has been removed from the patient. If more than 20 seconds elapse between placement and the needle insertion, remove NeedleCalm™ from the skin and repeat the process. You may need to use a new pad or clean the pad and re-apply once it’s cold.
  5. Once the procedure is completed, remove the NeedleCalm™ device by gently peeling back silicone tape from skin. Dispose of used NeedleCalm™ device directly into general waste immediately after use. (Indentation of the skin is normal and usually will resolve within an hour.)
  6. Full instructions are available online and are included with each NeedleCalm™ purchase.
